China txts: Stay cool, y'all - SMS Text Messaging by Big Brother
The government of China is reaching out to many of the nearly 350 million of its citizens who have mobile phones, touching them with text messages advising them not to make trouble.
The text message campaign, started over the weekend, apparently targets major urban centres, including Beijing, where anti-Japanese sentiment has seen demonstrators taking to the streets and engaging in hooligan-like behaviour.
